TUISERKAN

Tuiserkan is situated in a mountainous area south of Hamadan, at 1700 meters above sea level, it comprises over 80 villages all of which are dedicated to rug making. Most of the rugs from this area are small to medium size, the wools soft and shiny and the colours very bright. The pile is quite high, and the rugs are knotted on a sturdy cotton structure. Therefore, they are strong rugs and very reasonably priced - the knot density is never high. The patterns are geometric and focus on brightly coloured central compositions. The background is usually dark brown or black to offset the other lively tones.
